Sony Xperia 1 VII Specifications and Price, Premium Camera and Audio Features

Sony has reportedly introduced the Xperia 1 VII shortly after Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 Edge. Early information suggests that this device is designed with high end hardware, offering an upgraded camera system, a premium display, and high quality audio inspired by Sony’s Walkman heritage.

Premium Design with Strong Durability

Sony is said to maintain its premium design concept, using Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both the front and back along with an aluminum frame. The device measures 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.5 mm and weighs 197 grams. It also comes with IP65 and IP68 certifications, giving it resistance to dust and the ability to withstand immersion at a depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.

Brighter 6.5 Inch Bravia OLED LTPO Display

The Xperia 1 VII reportedly features a 6.5 inch Bravia OLED LTPO display with a Full HD Plus resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and HDR BT.2020 support. The screen offers 100 percent DCI P3 color coverage and a 240Hz touch sampling rate.

Sony also revealed that screen brightness has increased by about 20 percent compared to the previous generation. Two ambient light sensors on the front and back allow more accurate brightness adjustments. The device also features automatic color tuning to maintain consistent visuals in different lighting conditions.

Premium Audio Inspired by Walkman

The Xperia 1 VII is described as an excellent option for users who prioritize high quality audio. Sony integrates audio technology based on its Walkman experience, including new circuit components that enhance sound quality when using wired headphones.

For wireless audio, DSEE Ultimate uses artificial intelligence to improve streaming music quality to near original levels. The full stage stereo speakers have also been improved to deliver clearer and more balanced sound. Additional support includes 360 Reality Audio, Dolby Atmos, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and high resolution audio at 24 bit 192 kHz.

Upgraded Camera System with Improved Ultra Wide Lens

Sony keeps the 52MP main camera with an Exmor T sensor, ZEISS optics, and a focal length range of 24mm to 48mm. The 12MP periscope telephoto camera offers a focal length of 85mm to 170mm with support for up to 7x zoom.

A major improvement appears in the 48MP ultra wide camera, which uses a 1/1.56 inch sensor that is 2.1 times larger than its predecessor. This camera produces minimal distortion and can capture macro images as close as 5 cm.

A new feature called AI Camera Work reportedly enhances video stabilization and helps keep subjects centered in the frame. Another feature, Auto Framing, uses AI to track subjects and automatically crop the video to ensure the subject remains in the focus area.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Performance and Large Memory

The Sony Xperia 1 VII is said to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset built on a 3 nm process. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage, which can still be expanded up to 1.5TB using a microSD card.

The device runs Android 15 and is promised to receive four OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

5000mAh Battery with Fast Charging

The 5000mAh battery supports 30W fast charging, Qi wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging. Sony claims that battery life can reach up to two days, with video playback lasting up to 36 hours.
